Associated Projects
Members of SysMedPD actively participate in a number of research projects and initiatives related to neurodegenerative diseases. The following initiatives are of particular relevance for SysMedPD:
- NCER-PD
National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s disease funded by the Luxembourg Research Fund (FNR).
- MitoPD
funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the project focuses on genetic and transcriptomatic characterisation of mitochondrial dysfunction.
Innovative Medicine Initiatives
- AETIONOMY
an IMI-funded project focusing on data management of mechanistic taxonomies and knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases.
- eTRIKS
a project that aims to create and run an open, sustainable research informatics and analytics platform for use by IMI and other projects with knowledge management needs.
- StemBANCC
a large-scale project with the aim to generate and characterise high quality human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell lines to study a range of chronic diseases and test for drug efficacy and safety.
- CASyM
a multidisciplinary European consortium that joined forces to develop an implementation strategy (road map) for Systems Medicine.
Joint Neurodegenerative Disease Research Program
- Courage-PD
a project taking an integrated approach to unravel the multitude of interacting genetic and environmental risk factors underlying Parkinson’s disease.
- SynSpread
examines the roles and mechanisms of synuclein and ataxin-3 spreading in Parkinson and Machado-Joseph diseases.
