Associated Projects

Members of SysMedPD actively participate in a number of research projects and initiatives related to neurodegenerative diseases. The following initiatives are of particular relevance for SysMedPD:

NCER-PD

National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s disease funded by the Luxembourg Research Fund (FNR).

MitoPD

funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the project focuses on genetic and transcriptomatic characterisation of mitochondrial dysfunction.

Innovative Medicine Initiatives

AETIONOMY

an IMI-funded project focusing on data management of mechanistic taxonomies and knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases.

eTRIKS

a project that aims to create and run an open, sustainable research informatics and analytics platform for use by IMI and other projects with knowledge management needs.

StemBANCC

a large-scale project with the aim to generate and characterise high quality human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell lines to study a range of chronic diseases and test for drug efficacy and safety.

CASyM

a multidisciplinary European consortium that joined forces to develop an implementation strategy (road map) for Systems Medicine.

Joint Neurodegenerative Disease Research Program

Courage-PD

a project taking an integrated approach to unravel the multitude of interacting genetic and environmental risk factors underlying Parkinson’s disease.

SynSpread

examines the roles and mechanisms of synuclein and ataxin-3 spreading in Parkinson and Machado-Joseph diseases.
