EPMA World Congress 2017

PPPM in Practice – this was the theme of the 2017 world congress by the European Association for Predictive, Preventive & Personalised Medicine (EPMA). EPMA’s main objective is to promote the paradigm change from delayed reactive medical services to evidence-based Predictive, Preventive & Personalised Medicine (PPPM) as an integrated science and healthcare practice. The organization currently comprises a network of over 50 countries around the globe, all of which are actively contributing to the innovative concepts of PPPM.

From 14-17 September 2017, around 120 participants gathered at the University of Malta to participate in scientific sessions, workshops and poster sessions. The second meeting day was dedicated to one key theme of the conference: PPPM in Neurological, Neurodegenerative and Neuropsychiatric Disorders. The SysMedPD project was represented by Dr. Ronan Fleming, Technical and Quality Manager of SysMedPD and Work Package Leader of WP 5, who held a presentation entitled “Systems medicine of mitochondrial Parkinson’s disease”.  Over 80 interested researchers joined Dr. Fleming’s session and actively participated in discussions after the session.
